Looking For ‘Traditional’ Wing Sauce?
Hey there,
I’m pretty picky about BBQ/Wing Sauces. Oddly enough, the best sauce is that traditional sauce that is served with wings, often at local pizza places.
I can’t seen to find the sauce they use anywhere. The sauce in question is considered ‘mild’, and is a bit orange in color. Slightly sweet, tangy. I’m almost positive it’s a ‘bargain’ sauce – most would consider the taste cheap.
Does anyone know of a wholesale supplier that supplies this sauce to restaurants, because I can’t seem to find anything similar in stores.
Help?
What you need is Frank’s Red Hot sauce. This is the sauce that was used in the original buffalo wings in in 1964 in Buffalo, NY.
I’ve found large bottles of Frank’s in the past at Sam’s Club, and I’ve also found smaller bottles at the supermarket. Unless you’re going to make buffalo wings every day, a smaller supermarket sized bottle should be enough for you.
Just mix 3 parts Frank’s with 2 parts melted butter and slather it on your cooked wings.
it’s easy to make. add a couple tbsp of butter to a sauce pan and melt, pour in some franks red hot or your favorite hot sauce and stir. if you want some twists add some garlic powder or whatever spices you fancy.
