Why is it that the people who insist that gender is an exclusively biological product never have any proof?

They insist over and over that science has "proven" this when there is no credible evidence for it?

Here is my challenge:
Can anyone find credible evidence from an authoritative source stating that gender is soley (or overwhelmingly) the product of biology?

Why would social scientists differenciate between SEX and GENDER if the two are interchangeable?

The both of you are wrong. Gender isn’t exclusively biological, but it isn’t exclusively social either..

Gender is both biological and social.

I think the real reason is that they don’t get it that gender and sex are two different words, at least from what I’ve seen in here..

But remember some of the people we are talking about who also think that evolution is just a theory and that there is a conspiracy to supress creationism..

Edit: "Gender is both biological and social."

No, gender is a socially defined trait that is atributed. Sex is biological.

Gender is biological and social. Society tends to reinforce gender roles that are seen as natural. But the basis of gender differences are biological.

It’s just another form of the nature vs nurture debate. In reality, their are innate differences, both physiologically and neurologically. Gender may be a social concept but it stems from both biological and social influences.

    Here’s one study:
    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/12/081209100948.htm

This leads to behavioral differences in early development which means boys are more likely to play with things like trucks and build bridges than girls. These skills will be socially exaggerated as parents generally allow their children to learn in their own way and people are later more likely to take courses they are better at and therefore hone these skills.

So despite the fact that innate biological gender differences are small and have far larger overlaps, in society it’s enough to lead to these differing gender roles between men and women.

The reason psychologists and social scientists differentiate between ‘gender’ and ’sex’ is because one is who we are (male or female) the other is the behavior than stems from our sex and society.

I’ve never understood why feminists make such a racket about ‘gender’, gender is going to exist for as long as men and women exist. Stop pretending it’s all some patriarchal conspiracy.

Because social science is in fact a pseudoscience based on the prejudices of 70s professors whose ideas rarely collided with reality.

    1) "Social science" is far from scientific
    2) Most social scientist’s are crack pots that never ever got it right and often try to push there own personnel agenda’s.
    3) Sex and gender are interchangeable depending on the sentence structure and meaning. Welcome to the English language.

    4) Do your own home work. But I will give you a hint. Look up brain differences.

    5) The main difference between the genders is the whole Y and X chromosome thingy.
