I save all scraps, no matter how small.

I invested in a Cricut and I make my own alphabets for titles rather than buying stickers.

With the remaining stickers I DO have, I alter existing letters to make letters I need but are out of... like cutting off the rounded edge of a P to make an F or cutting off the bottom of a B and trimming it then turning it around and back down to make an R. Econimical and challenging.

I buy adhesives in bulk on websites... my favorite is http://www.scrappindeals.com/ where they have great prices on things and often offer reduced or free shipping. They have the best prices on Hermafix adhesives that I've found.

Oriental Trading Company also carries scrapbooking supplies now... tons of them at great prices. They are usually bulk packs, so go in on a purchase with a few friends and you'll be shocked at how much you can get for a little money. (One caution... the epoxy stickers are not the best quality, but everything else I got... rub-ons, rubber embellishments, paper... was excellent quality.)

Another good online store is Create for Less (do a search for that phrase). This is one place that online stores buy products then mark them up for sale. There are usually minimums required (like must be 3 packages) but again, go in with a friend or two and you'll get some really great deals. (Right now, they are having a great sale on Bazzill cardstock!)

I use Michael's or Joanne's coupons each week, even if I just get a refill for my Xyron X (which are usually only $5.95 anyway, but I use them a lot with the letters I cut from my Cricut).

For gift giving occasions, I ask for gift certificates to my local scrapbooking store and when I shop there, I use their frequent buyer card so every $175, I get 20% off an entire purchase, so I wait until I have a full card to get a tool or a big pack of paper I've been wanting.

I buy the bulk cheaper cardstock packs (the kind that isn't as thick as say Bazzill) to use on my Cricut (and with a coupon at Michael's)... it cuts easier and I can save my Bazzill for layout backgrounds where the thickness is necessary.

Not your earth-shattering savings methods, but every little bit counts. Hope some of these help!
References :
This may not appeal to you but i recently found this online type of scrapbooking - i find it very good and interesting, and you don't have to pay - you can also upload your own images and make your own pages or choose from a theme
let me know if you use it and if so how you get on

good luck
References :
www.scrapblog.com

I just made a baby book and used very little bought embellishments. I made most from card stock. I do have a Sizzix die cut machine and use it a lot.
I also try to buy only what I need for the photos I am using.
I don't buy patterned paper unless I have a layout I want it for.
References :
You can save money by going back to the old ways where it really is SCRAPS. Make your add-ons from recycled greeting cards, wrapping paper and bits of fabric. If you spot a cool embellishment idea in the craft store, don't buy it, but go home and think about how you can make your own. It will be even better and your scrapbooks won't look like everyone else's.

Forget cutting machines and make your cuts by hand, with scissors. Every page will be special and you won't be done in five minutes.

There are two variants.

1. You can go into digital scrapooking. Though there has been a recent discussion on whether digital scrapbooking is really cheaper (it was about cost of 12x12 printing)

2. You can try so called "printables". These are digital images that you can print out and use in your paper scrapbooks.
If you have color printer at home, this might be a good solution.
